What a win by the Lady Greendevils softball team tonight against Williamstown! First it was Senior Ella Boyers with a homerun in the bottom of the 7th to send it to extras and then her Senior running mate Emily Hall secured the walk-off win with a base hit in the bottom of the 8th. It all led to a 20-18 win and a bunch of very happy Greendevils! Keep up the great work, girls! #WeAreDayton

Happy Energy Bus Thursday!! It was a great one today-This week's Energy Bus activity had our Greendevils practicing gratitude by writing thank-you notes. Taking a moment to express appreciation isn't just a polite gesture; it’s a powerful way to build stronger relationships and a more positive environment. Whether it’s a quick email, text message, or a handwritten thank-you note, acknowledging someone’s hard work or support goes a long way. Gratitude helps boost morale; everyone appreciates being appreciated. It helps build and strengthen meaningful relationships. Gratitude is contagious; a culture of kindness takes work, but together we can "Enjoy the Ride" and build something amazing. #WeAreDayton

After a tough start to the season, the Lady Green Devils hit the road for the first time, making the long trip south along the AA Highway through the winding roads of Bracken County and Mt. Olivet to face the host Robertson County Black Devils. It was a tightly contested game through six innings, with the Green Devils holding a narrow 9 to 4 lead. Zoe Hedger delivered a complete game performance in the circle, while a strong defensive effort, including standout plays from Ella Boyers, Emily Hall, and outfielders Maddie Combs, Leiyah Thomas, and Sandy Gamboa, kept the advantage intact. The team played cleanly overall, committing just one sun aided error. Despite Robertson County putting runners on base in every inning, Keira Hall had a career performance behind the plate, throwing out six runners attempting to steal. Offensively, every Green Devil reached base at least once. The Hall sisters and Ella Boyers led the charge, with Boyers smashing a two RBI triple off the center field fence. Leiyah Thomas and Boyers each drove in three runs, while Brooklyn Moreno added a pair of RBIs. Gamboa and Izzy Combs contributed key bunts that helped fuel the offensive surge. Hedger also made an impact at the plate, collecting multiple hits, including a stand up triple. The Green Devils put the game away in the top of the seventh inning with an explosive 11 run frame, then closed it out with a scoreless bottom half. It was a complete team win with contributions across the board. The Lady Green Devils will look to carry this momentum forward as they host Beechwood in the first round of the All A Classic on Monday night. #WeAreDayton #Family

Dayton High School is announcing that Laura Hall has stepped down as the women's basketball coach. Laura has dedicated 33 years to the sport of basketball. In that time Laura won numerous NKMSAA championships, had multiple undefeated seasons, and a passion for the Dayton Community and Dayton High School. Laura is a 1986 Graduate of Dayton High School and has spent her life dedicated to the community. Former superintendent Jay Brewer was quoted as saying "The consistency that you have provided to these young ladies has given them someone to count on, lean on, and to inspire them." Current athletic Justin Farr had this to say: "Laura was a pleasure to work with. She always made me laugh and I loved watching the way she went out of her way to help support her young women with anything they may need. Laura always served as a mentor, leader, and sometimes an arm to cry on for her young women. Laura Hall will be deeply missed ." Join me and Dayton High School in congratulating Laura Hall on a job well done! #wearedayton

Happy Energy Bus Thursday! The Energy Bus activity this week had students writing “I Am” statements. Students gave their self-esteem a boost with this activity by utilizing positive affirmations to encourage them to think energetically and positively about their unique qualities and attributes. By writing down these affirmations, students reinforce positive self-perceptions and enhance their overall self-esteem. #WeAreDayton

We are happy to announce Dayton High School's February Drivers of the Month! These outstanding students were chosen based on their representation of the fifth and final Energy Bus Rule-"Enjoy the Ride." Our February Drivers were specifically chosen by their 5th period teachers, and they were all picked because they are students who understand the importance of enjoying the journey. They come to class each day with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and an appreciation for the experiences that school brings. No matter the challenge, they approach learning with enthusiasm and a smile, reminding others that success is not just about the destination, but about the growth and memories made along the way here at DHS.
Thank you, February Drivers, for making Dayton High School a better and more positive place! Congratulations! #WeAreDayton
