Happy Energy Bus Thursday!! For this week's Energy Bus activity, we introduced Energy Bus rule #3: "No Bullying Allowed". Students were presented with some thought-provoking discussion questions such as, "Why do you think some students say or post negative things about others?", "What can we say or do when we hear others speaking negatively?", "How can we remain resilient in the face of negativity?" Our students were highly engaged in their classroom discussions.
Here are some conversation starter questions for families to have and discuss with your student:
1. What kinds of bullying happen most often at your school and how do people respond?
2. How would you want others to react if you were being targeted online?
3. Have you ever regretted staying silent and what would you have done differently?
4. What kind of leadership does it take to stand up for someone feeling hurt?
Finally, here's a link discussing Rule #3:

Dayton High School is very excited to be using YouScience this year to help students to identify and explore their natural aptitudes and interests. After yet another wonderful and inspiring Veterans Day Assembly at Dayton High School, Mr. Taylor's 7th and 8th grade Social Studies classes had some true heroes as visitors. Veterans Mr. Pat Murnahan (US Airforce, WWII), Mr. Paul Meyers (US Army, Vietnam), and Mr. Mark Tumler (US Army, Iraq) spent several periods talking to students about their military experiences and the importance of Veterans Day. Students and staff alike who had the pleasure of listening came away in awe of all these three amazing gentlemen sacrificed for our country and freedom. We are truly grateful for them and all veterans today and every day. Thank you, Veterans!

Congratulations 8th grade for winning last week's grade level attendance contest! Attendance Matters! 💪💚
